Summer 2016 Workshops 1 - 5pm
Tuesday 16th & Friday 19th August
Main Activities - Tuesday 16th August 1 - 5pm:
o Build-a-Bot: Build and Code a Robot using code and motors
o Digital Art: Use Code and Beautiful Lights to make amazing art
o Code Reload: Create Code to "make stuff happen" then challenge your imagination to reuse that code in new ways
Main Activities - Friday 19th August 1 - 5pm:
o Beatboxing Bear: Turn a teddy bear into a cool beatboxer!
o Games Controller Challenge: Code a game, then get active controlling your characters in weird and wonderful ways
o Sphero Track: build a track for the, including making switches and controlling Sphero the Robotic BallAll in all, there'll be lots of making, building, coding, exploring and remixing, with some challenges thrown in too.
Each afternoon will offer multiple activities, activities at each workshop will be different. So there'll be something different to explore each time.
As well as the skills that are being directly taught, such as circuits, or programming etc... there will be lots of opportunities to gain soft skills (team work, communication of ideas, collaboration etc...).
Participants should bring a laptop (if this is not possible, let us know), a drink and a snack.

What do I need to know?
Q: Where is the workshop?
A: Staplehurst Village Centre - South Hall, High St, Staplehurst, Tonbridge TN12 0BJ
The South Hall entrance is to the back of the building, there will be green arrows pointing the way.
Q: When can I arrive?
A: We ask that you arrive no earlier than 1pm The first 15 minutes will be an opportunity to settle and meet oneanother so, for your child's benefit we suggest that you arrive no later than 1:10pm.
Of course sometimes uncontrollable circumstances get in the way and cause us to be late; if this does happen, please still come in, but you may need to wait a moment for us to find the best time to incorporate your child
Q: When should I collect my child(ren)?
A: Please collect your child(ren) promptly at 5pm.
Q: I'd like someone else to collect, is that possible.
A: You must advise us if someone else will be collecting your child, or if your child is to walk home alone.
Q: What age-groups are invovled.
A: These workshops are aimed at ages 10-12
Q: What should my child bring?
A: a laptop, with the ability to install software (or we can send you the link ahead of the day). if you don't have a laptop, let us know.
a drink and a snack, it's thirsty work, and we'll need some fuel to keep going (and time away from screen)!

Helen's coffee shop, the village shops and the library are all just a short walk away, for those who would like to stay local.
We are an inclusive club. Everyone has a right to be involved, to join in and we all have something to offer as well as learn. If you have concerns, or feel that your child would benefit from the club more, if you provided extra information, then please get in touch.
